Northwoods Calendar Digital News Letter

We minister to those strangers in our midst and to those around the world. We place great value on giving not only money to support ministry to others, but on giving our time and ourselves individually and corporately to service. Be a part of God’s work in the world!

Start Your Christmas Shopping at the World Craft Store
Open each Sunday from 10:30-11:00 am, the World Craft Store has been stocked with new items perfect for Christmas gifting!  Our merchandise is handmade by skilled craftspeople in developing regions of the world and all the profits go back to these artisans from emerging countries.  Stop by our World Craft Store any Sunday to see what we have on display.  Hope and justice are included with every purchase!

Sleep In Heavenly Peace
CNN has just announced their top 10 CNN Heroes finalists and the voting has begun! Sleep in Heavenly Peace is one of the top ten Heroes!  You can vote up to 10 times per day on Facebook and 10 times per day with an email address through December 4th (and it is easy, you only have to enter your information one time per method!).   Choose Luke Mickelson, the founder of SHP.  The winner gets $100,000 and that will get a lot of kids off the floor!   The winner will be named December 9th at 7pm on CNN.  Vote each day at:  https://www.cnn.com/specials/cnn-heroes/

Tis the Season for the Giving Tree
Studies show that giving makes us feel happy, giving is good for our health, and giving is contagious!  Each year, Northwoods members reap these benefits when they participate in our Giving Tree Project.  Last year we collected over 70 toys for children, made 20 holiday baskets for the homebound, and raised over $21,000 for different organizations!  This year we will do it all over again starting on Sunday, November 18th.  Here is a list of our Giving Tree organizations for this year:
Holiday Toys for Children
Baskets for Homebound Seniors
The Heifer Project
New Shoes for Winter
Bonding Against Adversity
Habitat House
Home of Hope
Sleep in Heavenly Peace
When you donate to one of these causes, you will receive an ornament to hang on a Christmas tree in church.  You can donate for yourself or in the name of a loved one or a friend!  We will be collecting through December 16th before and after services.  Thanks so much for your consideration!

NAM Day of Service 2018
Come join our Saturday service at NAM day on Saturday, November 17th from 9-11 am.  You will have the choice to either deliver groceries to the home bound with Meals on Wheels or sort clothes at the NAM restore. If you would like to participate, please contact David Puig at davidpuig@northwoods.org

Blood Drive
Donate at our Blood Drive throughout the year. If possible, make an appointment in advance by signing up at the Narthex starting 2 weeks before the blood drive date. If you can't give blood, you can also help by volunteering at our drive or providing snacks for our donors.  The next Blood Drive for 2018 will be on December 2nd.

Golden Gathering
Each month here at Northwoods, our Golden Gathering volunteers throw a theme party with fun, music, entertainment, and lunch. Enjoy the morning and befriend our "Care Partners" who have early dementia/Alzheimer's. By volunteering, you also give their caregivers some precious free time for themselves. Golden Gathering is held the 3rd Thursday of every month and volunteers are asked to be there from 9:30am-1:30pm. Sign up with David Puig  davidpuig@northwoods.org
